For the first time in the Kyiv region, the military river division and units of the Territorial Defense Forces completed training on the destruction of sabotage and reconnaissance groups of the enemy.
According to the Commander of the Joint Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Lieutenant General Serhii Nayev, the war with Russia forced Ukraine to review and update the organization of resistance to the actions of the invasion forces.
In particular, in those areas of the country where there is an extensive network of rivers, the Armed Forces of Ukraine came to a conclusion on the need to create river military flotillas.
“The need to create a military river fleet on the Dnipro River in March of last year was indicated by unfriendly actions on the part of Belarus, which unofficially supports Russian aggression against Ukraine. In addition, it should be taken into account that the Belarusian army has at its disposal 19 ships of the military river division in Pinsk and a base in Loyew, that is right on the border with us,” said Lieutenant General Serhii Nayev.
The Ukrainian river division is armed with boats that can transport and evacuate personnel, perform convoy, guard, patrol and reconnaissance functions. Last year, the unit received patrol boats provided by the United States.
“The river landing and the capture of a designated bridgehead is a small part of the priority tasks for which the soldiers who defend the Northern direction are always ready. I am satisfied with the training of our units,” said Lieutenant General Serhii Nayev.
The military also received the SHERP the SHUTTLE landing craft.
According to the legend of the exercises, a message about an attack on a roadblock is received at the command post of a group of troops in the Kyiv region. Unknowns steal weapons and disappear in an unknown direction. The rapid response team arrives at the scene and discovers the abandoned cars.
After that, UAVs are used by the sabotage-reconnaissance group to carry out aerial reconnaissance and search for the enemy. After a certain time, the enemy is discovered on the river bank, where he has set up an ambush in advance. This information is transmitted to the control post, where decisions are made on the use of artillery and amphibious assault.
Later, guard boats arrive at the site, which disembark advanced detachments for reconnaissance of the area and cover the landing of the main group of river landings. The forward patrol discovers the enemy’s observation posts and destroys them by means of fire. After that, the patrol gives permission to land.
The landing party is unloaded ashore and engages in battle with the enemy along the coastline. At the same time, guard boats engage in battle with enemy watercraft and destroy them.
Next, firing groups surround the enemy sabotage-reconnaissance group and clear the area. The assault team makes the arrest. After that, the wounded and the convoy of prisoners are evacuated.
