Transitioning to land, the WaterCar-EV impresses with a land speed of 25 MPH, encased in a robust, aircraft-grade 6061 aluminum body that keeps it under1,800 lbs, ensuring agility and responsiveness. It offers over 20 miles of range on land, extendable with optional lithium-ion battery banks and regenerative braking.


The vehicle's adaptability is highlighted by a single steering wheel for seamless navigation and a push-button transition between land and water modes.   • How Much is a WaterCar-EV?

Price varies as it is dependent on use, options, and outboard selection.

  • Why build an Electric Amphibious Vehicle?

The simple answer is because WaterCar has always been on the leading edge of technology!

  • Why Offer a hybrid option and a fully electric option?

At present, outboard motor manufacturers are diligently working to create high-performance electric outboards. Although this is emerging technology, there's intense competition to be the first to offer a high-horsepower electric outboard by early 2024. WaterCar is closely monitoring these advancements. As major OEMs finalize their testing and designs, the race tightens. WaterCar is poised and ready for this evolution; the moment an electric outboard is launched, we'll introduce the WaterCar-EV. We anticipate that by the end of 2023, WaterCar will offer a fully electric option.

  • Can I drive in saltwater and fresh water?

Yes, the vehicle components have been corrosion protected and can be used in both salt and fresh water. Salt water would need to be rinsed off similar to any boat.

  • Do you have to register the WaterCar-EV as a Car or Boat or both?

Amphibious vehicle registration and licensing requirements are unlike any other transportation type depending on the country and state it is used in. Amphibious vehicles may be required to be registered and licensed for both water use and road use. WaterCar is a U.S. Coast Guard registered boat builder. The WaterCar EV comes with a registered U.S. Coast Guard hull number so it can be licensed for water usage most anywhere in the world. WaterCar is registered with NHTSA and DOT so your WaterCar EV will have a vehicle VIN # similar to a regular car that you would drive on the highway. We recommend you check with the local governing authority as to what is legally needed to operate an Amphibious vehicle in your area.

  • Does WaterCar sell vehicles outside the U.S.?

WaterCar sells and ships vehicles worldwide. Our vehicles have shipped to hundreds of countries around the world. They are delivered FOB - Fountain Valley, CA, USA. 

  • Do I need a drivers license to operate a WaterCar-EV?

This is dependent on your local governing authority. In most states in the USA, there is a requirement to have a drivers license on land and a boaters license on water. WaterCar would typically follow the same regulations for a car and boat.

  • Can I tow my WaterCar-EV behind my Motorhome?

Yes, the rear wheels need to be down and there is an attachment on the front of the WaterCar-EV that allows it to be towed at highway speeds. There is no need to decide whether to bring a car or boat behind your motorhome, bring both with your WaterCar-EV!

  • Can the WaterCar-EV be used on open water?

The WaterCar-EV can be used in open water, but it is limited as to how rough of a sea in which it can be safely operated.

  • Do you accept financing?

No. Only cash or credit card. An initial deposit will be required before we start work on your vehicle.

  • Does a WaterCar-EV Require more maintenance than a regular car?

The WaterCar-EV land systems require less maintenance than most cars, because it is electric! The WaterCar-EV boat systems would be similar to most boats with a Yamaha outboard. WaterCar recommends regular washes after use and WD-40 on the suspension components, especially after use in Salt Water.
